Week One: S.T.E.P. into the Woman You Were Created to Be: S Today we kick off a four part video series called "S.T.E.P. into the Woman You Were Created to Be." In the video below I will share a bit about a word that may be the MOST important word I have ever learned in my life... Nichole Nordeman - "Listen To Your Life"
S.T.E.P. Into the Woman You Were Created to Be A couple of years ago, I felt like my world was falling apart. A health challenge, a troubled teen, and a business that had hit a wall knocked the wind right out of my sails. I had been running fast and hard for several years prior to that, striving for success, searching for my identity, trying to BE somebody. And things had been going so well. Or so I had thought. Until one day...
Happy New Year! As one year ends and another begins, I find myself canoeing down the “Happy Tears/Sad Tears” River. On one hand I’m thinking, “Yay, thank goodness it’s a new year!” But another voice is quick to whisper, “Geez, where did the year go? There couldn’t have been 365 days in 2017!” Looking back at all I didn’t accomplish, the tasks left undone, and the goals not reached can be a debbie-downer. I truly want to be excited about the New Year, but I have unresolved issues, tasks, and goals from the year that just ended. Does any of this resonate with you? It is becoming very clear to me that unless we are willing [...]
... The story continues. The plot thickens. I love reading of God’s goodness, kindness, and gentleness with sweet young Mary throughout this story. Over and over and over again, His compassion is revealed to Mary in a tender way. In Part 1 of this series, we watch as Gabriel first appears to Mary and gently affirms and disarms her fear by telling her, “You are highly favored by God”. In Part 2, the story continues with Gabriel’s patient explanation when she asks him, “How will this be, since I am a virgin?” And this leads us right into today’s lesson, Part 3, from Luke 1:39-56. I have often wondered about the next part of this story. [...]
... Have you ever noticed how courage and humility don’t seem to go together in the same sentence, yet when we look closer, we often find them hand in hand? When I think of courage, I think of big and strong and bold, a warrior. On the other hand, when I think of humility, the first thing that comes to mind is soft spoken, meek, mild, timid, a servant. And yet, how many stories in the Bible feature an unlikely humble character who is called by God to step out in great faith and courage and do something beyond his capability or skillset? In part 1, we find Mary, an innocent unassuming teenage girl, in fear [...]
... Today I am starting a three part series called “Breath of Heaven”, inspired by the Amy Grant song from 1992 by the same name. I have included the link to this song so that you may be inspired and moved in a deeper way through these next couple of weeks leading up to Christmas day. We will be reading and digging deeper into the familiar passage from Luke Chapter 1:26-38... “In the sixth month, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph. The virgin’s name was Mary. The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! [...]
Family Christmas photo almost thwarted due to forgetting a child ... White shirts and blue jeans for eight people, check. A beautiful, sunshiney day, not a cloud in the sky. Pants still button despite Thanksgiving overeating the day before, check. Sun shining bright, blue sky above. Baby Emma awake and in a good mood, check. Having a good hair day, thanks to Emily, check. Did I say sun was shining brightly? Everything seemed to be going just as planned for the Pulliam Family Christmas photo, until a phone call at 10:45 the night before... [...]
A New Kind of Giving Thanks... Thanksgiving has become a day of turkey, dressing, cranberries, family, friends, and football...and of course, giving thanks for our many blessings. But today I’d like to give you a fresh perspective on the word and the holiday we call Thanksgiving: Phil 4:4 “Rejoice in the Lord always, I will say it again rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything but with prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, presents your requests to God. And the peace of God which transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. [...]
Unforgettable Time with my 95 year old Grandma We call my Grandmother “Sitti”, the arabic word for Grandmother. She is one incredible woman: firey, sassy, silly, and so much fun to be with. She has aged with grace, wisdom, joy, sadness, surgeries and loss. And yet, her family legacy lives on through the lives of her eleven grandchildren, her 23 “greats” and now her “great- great” named Emma. Last weekend I drove five hours to spend two days with her... just because. My Sitti is almost 96 years old and she still lives on her own, in a little house next door to my aunt and uncle. I don’t see her nearly as often as I [...]
Big Dreams and Bold Prayers “God is not offended by your big dreams or your bold prayers. These give God the opportunity to prove His power and His love.” Mark Batterson, The Circle Maker. Do you have BIG dreams? Do you have BOLD prayers? Do you ever turn the desires of your heart into prayers? Do you wonder if God will ever answer those prayers? I have had a dream of living in a waterfront home for as long as I can remember. I want to have a beautiful pool in the backyard where I can sit and have my morning coffee and devotional time, entertain family and friends, and cool off on a hot summer’s [...]
